Eclipse Android SDK ADT Emulator
Firstly you should know about on which OS you can create android development environment. Some OS are
- Microsoft Windows
- Macintosh known as MAC OS X
So before installing IDE you have to install all of these tools or components for android development
- Java Development Kit (Latest Version)
- Java Runtime Environment (Latest Version)
you can download JDK and JRE from Oracle Official website.Download link
Don’t forget these components to install before installing IDE.We will work with eclipse IDE throughout the tutorials.Basically there are two most popular IDE now running for android application development using java programming language.
- Eclipse (have multiple types like June,Kepler,Mars etc).
- Android Studio
Many tools are available in the market for android application development some known tools are
- Xamarin cross platform(Android,IO’s,Windows,Blackberry)
- Unity 3D cross platform(Android,IO’s,Windows,Blackberry)
- Adobe Flex cross platform(Android,IO’s,Windows,Blackberry)
- Flash cross platform(Android,IO’s,Windows,Blackberry)
- AppMakr (Android,IO’s,Windows)
and many more.
Now let’s start with installation.
First go to the official website EclipseWebsite after you went to eclipse official website it will look like this.
Now choose download link according to your OS from the right hand side.When you click on any like for me it’s WINDWOS 64-bit it will take you to another page which will be like this image
Now click on download button then it will download shortly almost 239 MB Size.After Download Completion Install eclipse on your system.First,Extract that zip file which you have downloaded from eclipse official website and you will find eclipse icon just like this
Before clicking this exe file you should make sure that JDK and JRE is installed latest version.When you click that link or icon a new popup window will open in the middle of your screen like this
i have KEPLER version of eclipse your loading screen will be just like this and after sometime it’ll show a workspace option window where your android projects will be saved
Now click Browse button choose your workspace directory and then click OK after loading all the stuff of eclipse plugins and other configuration home window of eclipse like
Welcome screen of eclipse.Now next click on cross icon on the top left corner with welcome tab and then eclipse Layout,Package Explorer window will display like
Alright now we have installed eclipse JAVA EE.
Setting Up ADT
Next we will setup ADT.What ADT is? ADT stands for Android Developement Tool it’s a plugin which you will add into eclipse.
First Go the Menu bar of eclipse IDE and Click on Help a dropdown window will open in front of you in that dropdown window you’ll see one option (Eclipse Marketplace) click on it,you will see a window it’ll might take some time to display so don’t be panic.Like this image
Now you will see sreach input box on the top left side named as FIND.Type ADT in that box after searching option will display in front of you
- Android Development Tools for Eclipse
Hit install button and wait for some time.After plugin installation completed.Go to New > Android Application project in menu bar or New > other > Android >Android Application Project.If these things are displayed then your plugin is successfully installed.
Second Way to install Android Development Tools.Go the link ADT_Plugin and copy the link just like this
copy that line and go to eclipse and click on Help > Install New Software.Window will display just click on (Add) button and then paste that link in bottom input box and also name it and click OK.
Next you will see Developer Tool option with checkbox check it and click NEXT on bottom and so on until finish will not enable if Terms License will display just accept and Hit Finish it will take some time to install.
There are two options to install eclipse android SDK
First you download Android SDK from this link Eclipse Android SDK,extract it and store in your working directory do not place it in C:/.Now go to eclipse Window>Preferences you will see a window
select Android option from left side and then choose your Android SDK path which you have downloaded recently by Browse button.After specifying your path Scroll down to Bottom and click apply when you click apply it will display all of the API(Android+Google) like above picture and then hit OK.
Second Option: when you installed Android Development Tools Plugin after that go to the Window and check if there is any option named as SDK Manager if not and go for (First Option) but if it is there then click on SDK Manager,it’ll take some time to open and then window will open.
Now check all the options and install them if will not installed anything it’ll give you errors so,you must install them before start building applications it is same for step one when you download Android SDK.When you finish installation of every component you will see installed opposite to every component just like above image.
After Installation close that window.Now we are done with our environment setup for Android Application Development.
Setting Up Emulator
Prerequisite for Setting up an Emulator is you Android SDK.Now how you will create a virtual Device on your PC or whatever you are using MAC etc.
First Go to Window > Android Virtual Device Manager known as AVD Manager.New window will display on your screen
Now click on create button another window will display on your screen just like this
now enter your name whatever you want but make just one word not two then select your device like Nexus 4 next select target platform for that particular device when you select target up or down to that device it’ll automatically set to the default then CPU/ABI option whatever you want prefered is ARM next in the skin option select no skin and finally type Size and hit OK don’t change anything else.

now after click ok you will in AVD Manager Emulator is created.Select that emulator and click start and it’ll take some momens to run it and when it will be in running look like this.
